LO5 Feedback and Evaluation

Overall, my website definitely works, it may have a few flaws but these are very minor. One thing I would have liked to do very much was include a video of one of the Small Machines operating, but unfortunately I did not have one of the small machines at hand to record, nor could I find any videos (Which I would ask for permission to use) which I would embed in the website.  In summary, the results from my tests show that the users found it very easy to navigate the website, they reached the targeted external links hidden within the website with ease, and in the amount of clicks on links I presumed would take for them to get there. This was where the link was to get to the external page;

I had asked them to go to one of the products on the Royal Armouries webpage, which they had to go to here:
  It would take them to this page, in which they would then click the 'Buy it' button:

This ends up taking them to the external page, the button was the External hyperlink:
I also made them test a few internal pages they had to find within the webpage which they also found easy to navigate to. These were;
The blog which was in the navigation bar.

The cart represented by an icon on every page.

The Mini Digger product page, once again in the navigation bar.
Then I asked them to click the 'add to cart' button on the Mini Digger's Shop page to see if it gets added to the cart, I would have had to pay a premium subscription to allow me to do all the complicated accounts and placing an order features, but again the item does go to the cart anyway, showing that the button does work:

In conclusion, navigation and the internal and external links don't need improving upon as I believe that based on the feedback, the navigation is easy for a visitor of the site, and the links take the visitor to the locations they are supposed to.

Next, I tested the pages load times, this being one External links and one internal link. The external link was tested, I wanted it to load under a second, the users had tested the link and it had loaded under a second. This unfortunately was not the same for the internal link, although one said it did load under a second, the other did not, this may have been because of their connection or browsers they were using, so this isn't something I really have control over so it will be hard to improve this.

The next test was based around the browser the user had used, and how the performance was I made the user not just test the website on a different browser but on a different platform too, on mobile and on desktop. Overall, when testing on a different platform the users were asked to see if anything was out of place for the user on their mobile (using any browser), I had used Wix.com and they had a built in mobile-friendly mode for the website I was making, which I had used, but surprisingly, the mobile-friendly mode was not shown, but the desktop version. This is very bad as it will be harder for a user on a small screen to use, making it an uncomfortable experience for a visitor on mobile, this is something I definitely need to fix so that it does work on mobile. So when using different browsers, Google Chrome and Mozilla Fox, according to the results there was not much difference between the two, they both worked near enough the same and so I did not really need to improve the performance of the website on a browser.

Finally, the consistency of my websites house style, reviewed by the test plan, simply states that my house styles are solid and consistent throughout the website, I had asked them to go through out all the different pages in my website to see this. I do not see any problems with the house style as I just went with the theme of red because of the logo, the rest was to mostly contrast against the red, and I thought grey was the best option. I could have been more specific in the testing to see how I could of improved upon it.

LO4: User Testing

How I will test my website:

Navigation:
I could test this by making it so the user has to find a webpage as quick as they can, this will show how easy it is to navigate as the quicker they get to a page the more easily it was to navigate for them.
I could also test this by seeing how many clicks it takes for them to get to a certain page, as the less clicks on links they had to make, the easier it was to navigate for them. I will make the webpage they have to find external (The Royal Armouries shop).

Internal and External Hyperlinks:
These will be tested with navigation in mind as the user has to click on these kind of links to get to the target page (when testing navigation), I will see if the links actually take them to the page the link said it would, internally (within my website) and externally (outside my website).

Page load Times:
This will be tested with one singular link, to make it a fair test across all users. I have noticed that the shop I had put in my website takes the longest to load, but I want to see how long, so the user will test how long that is. I will then also do a test to see how long it takes to get to an external link too.

Performance of Website when using different Browsers:
I will test this on two platforms as well as two browsers, one on mobile and one on a desktop, because my website has a mobile-friendly option too I want to see how it compares to the desktop version. The two browser the user will use are up to them, but I may have them state what they are.

The consistency of the house style:
I will test this by making the user go to each page that are each a different type of page, so one will be the home page, then a products page, then the blog page and then finally the store with one of its product pages, which is different to the previously mention product page. The user will be then asked whether or not the house style does consist throughout the website.

The Test Plan:
Test numbers which are testing navigation are 1,3,4,5.
Test numbers which are testing internal and external hyperlinks are 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.
Test numbers which are testing page load times are 2 and 7.
Test numbers which are testing the performance of the website on different browsers are 8 and 9.
The test number which is testing the consistency of the housestyle is 10.
